So Aki and I have lived at our home for two full seasons. It is our first house together. Poor guy knew he was dating a farmer, and when I told him I wanted to put in a garden, I don’t think he quite understood what that meant. I try and ease his suffering with bowls of fresh cherries and blackberry ice cream, and he seems to overlook the farming explosion that often takes over our entire house.
This is a list of my dreams for this year. You will notice a lot of these plants on the list are perennials, and I am not sure when they will really start to produce more than a small handful of goodies. It takes time, and always more years than you wish. I still have listed the ones I am hopeful just might give us a harvest this year.
Of course, this list is doomed to change. Poor weather, late frosts, mistakes, pests… basically the cards are stacked against the ones who grow food. But that’s the game. Fingers crossed, may we get what we can, and may it all be delicious.
